It is with great sadness that the family of Emmet McIver shares his passing on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 with both Lynda and Michelle at his bedside. Emmet McIver of Lion’s Head in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Lynda McIver (nee Bray) for over 58 years. Cherished father of Michelle McIver of Kincardine. Dear brother of Milt McIver (Bonnie) of Lindsay Twp and Brian McIver (Karen) of Lion’s Head and brother-in-law of Warren Bray (Holly) and Stephen Holmes (Janice pre). Beloved uncle of many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fondly remembered by close cousin Brent Greig, Aunt Veryl, Uncle Garf, Debbie Bray, Peter and Jackie Tenute. Predeceased by parents Vera (nee Bridge) and Donald McIver, sons Tracy and Darcy, nephew Nathan Bray and brother-in-law Jeff Bray (Bonnie). Emmet spent his youth on the family farm in Lindsay Township where he developed his passion for family life, his love of the outdoors and a strong work ethic. An athlete and an outdoorsman, Emmet’s love for sport and nature was interwoven in his family life. Making maple syrup, brush cutting, berry and leek picking, hunting, camping and family picnics will be cherished memories. Emmet was involved with Minor Hockey and Baseball for many years. Emmet’s career with Ontario Hydro began as an apprentice in 1967. He and Lynda moved between cities and towns until Emmet had the opportunity to return to his beloved Lion’s Head. On the Peninsula, Emmet was a dedicated family man, friend, coach and neighbour. Many a phone call came in after hours where Emmet was at the ready to lend a hand for work, his children or friends. If there was a need, he was there. Upon his retirement in 2000, Emmet had the opportunity to pursue many passions. He found great joy in time spent working alongside his brother Brian, in the bush with Brent, visiting with Milt at the feedlot and many DIY projects with Michelle. Above all Emmet cherished family time. A dedicated husband and father, Emmet’s greatest joy came when surrounded by his family sharing stories, pranks and laughter. A sincere heartfelt thank you is extended to Dr. Shannon Vanderstelt, Nurse Practitioner Tara Harpur, and the Care Partners team for their support and compassionate care. As per Emmet’s wishes a private family graveside service was held at Eastnor Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton.
