It is with deep love and broken hearts that the family of Nancy Heise shares of her unexpected but peaceful passing on May 10, 2026 (Mother’s Day), surrounded by family. She was 79 years old and was a shining example of a life well-lived. Family meant everything to Nancy. She is survived by her devoted husband and “rock star nurse” Fred; her loving children Kim (Bruce Flewelling), Carolin (Rob Jones) and Ron as well as her cherished grandchildren Brandon and Noah, who she loved to spoil. Nancy was the heart of the Heise family. Her Christmas traditions and love of the season are unmatched…Nancy was always up for a family celebration. Nancy was a tremendous cook and baker. Her date squares were “legendary”, as were her birthday desserts. Nancy was also an avid gardener who brought colour to every yard she touched. Nancy showed kindness to all that she met. She loved “chatting” and staying connected to her many friends and family (through her letter/card writing or on the telephone). Her community involvement in Lion’s Head (including their yearly garage sale) brought her great joy and pride. Nancy also loved participating in the yearly Christmas and Canada Day parades, entering floats with Fred for many years. Nancy spoke often of her many wonderful boating memories with Fred on both the Trent Canal system and in Georgian Bay with long time friends. Sincere thanks to the Peninsula Family Health Team; the Lion’s Head Hospital; Tara Harpur and Dr. Aboo for their excellent care of Nancy during her 3 year battle with cancer, as well as the many doctors and nurses at the Owen Sound Hospital for their care of Nancy in the last days of her life. At Nancy’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of remembrance for the family can be made to either the Lion’s Head Hospital Auxiliary (e-transfer to LHHA220@gmail.com), the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
