Devoted husband and best friend of the late Jean-Ann (nee Clements) for 63 years, who passed away on November 1, 2019. Dear father of Laurie Adams, of Tobermory, Tony Adams (partner Sharon Cheney), of Dyers Bay, Glenn ‘Sonny’ Adams (wife Mary Hoover), of Edina, MN, and Lindy Adams, of Owen Sound. Predeceased by his youngest son, Kevin Adams ( wife Laurie Constable) on October 26, 2022 of Hamilton. Proud grandfather of Mason Robert (Julie Hoo), Chelsea Robert (Devon Morton), and Haylea Chauhan, James Adams, Liam Adams, Ethan and Emma Adams; and great-grandfather of Dean and Pierce Robert, and Neelu-Jean Chauhan. Beloved brother of Bunny Burr (late Don Hallam), of Sarnia, and brother in law of Viola Adams (late Lloyd Adams), and Bettie Adams (late Tom Adams). Sadly missed by his daughter-in-law, Laurie Adams (Kevin) of Hamilton. Predeceased by his parents, Percy and Pearl; brothers, David, Lloyd, Tommy, Ray and Sonny; and sisters, Marold (Clarence Bartley), Edna (Bob Miller), Ruby (Jason Durance), and Catherine McNair. Acknowledged passing of the moments in time by Jean’s family, along with many of his nieces, nephews, and friends in the community. Cleve is the last patriarch of the original Philip Adams family. Philly, is also the last remaining horse on this historical homestead, now left to stand with head held high and will surely miss his presence. (especially the carrots). A full life starting as a Sailor on Great Lake freighters to the SS Norisle, owner of the Hi Way Market from 1959 to 1987; winters spent logging, springtime spent milling into lumber and in his later years farming due to the request of a small herd of horses on the farm. He played piano daily as he felt closer to his mother Pearl this way and loved to travel to the Fiddle festivals around Ontario. Many a party was held by the Adams’ families with these musical gatherings bringing joyful moments from sunset to sunrise throughout the years, too numerous to count. Special thanks to Wanda Christo, Maythor Moua, Doreen Zehr, Christine Winkle and granddaughter Chelsea Robert, for their hours of dedication to Cleve’s care over the past couple of years so he could enjoy being in his home for as long as possible. A memorial service to celebrate Cleve’s life will be conducted from the Tobermory United Church, on Saturday, June 10th at 3 o’clock, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Donations to the Golden Dawn Seniors/ Nursing Home would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041.
