MCQUISTAN, Ian – April 8th 1943 – January 6th 2023 – It is with great sadness and heart ache that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Ian Wilson McQuistan on Friday January 6th, 2023, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina at the age of 79 years old. He is predeceased by his wife Fidel McQuistan. Loving father to his children Jennifer Sinclair, Colin and Alicia McQuistan. Cherished Popa to Isabella, Cordelia, Peter, William, Alison and Ian. He will be dearly missed by his sister Sandra Brunjes and nephews Barry and Sarah Brunjes and Kevin and Mary Brunjes and great-nephew Joey and great-niece Iris. Ian was proud to be a dentist first in Brantford and then in Hamilton where he had a practice on the Hamilton Mountain for more than 35 years. He was an avid painter, photographer, golfer, wood carver and mentor. He and his wife had a love of travel and had the opportunity over the years to visit many countries and explore together. He had a lifetime fascination with birds and nature and loved to go birding with both organized birding groups and with his grandchildren. Throughout his life Ian touched so many people in different ways, whether it was through dentistry or his vibrant and loving personality. He built deep close relationships wherever he went and had numerous friends in Hamilton, ON, Collingwood, ON, Tobermory, ON and Fort Myers, FL. His friends and family meant the world to him. It is difficult to express in words the depth of the loss and emptiness in our lives that his passing has caused. He will be missed everyday and in our thoughts in everything we do as we move forward. We love you, Dad. A private ceremony was held in Wilmington, NC for immediate family. In lieu of flowers donation to Cystic Fibrosis Canada (email contact is Ianmcqmemorial@gmail.com) as an expression of sympathy would be greatly appreciated.
