We have been summering in Tobermory since 1988 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Pack a lunch and go to the light house and sit and watch the world go by. My favourite place was Dunks Bay and Singing Sands, especially when the grandkids wanted to fly kites.
Spending the evening wandering around town and get everyone an ice cream cone.
Going to the Grotto and letting the kids swim off the rocks. Now you book two weeks ahead to walk the trail into the Grotto.
Those pleasures are all gone now. Paying for parking is ridiculous. 3 hour limit – sometimes you wait 1 hour to get into a restaurant and sit for 20 mins to get served. The money is flying around town and I am glad the town is making money but the pleasure has gone.
We live in Lands End Park part of the summer. It is a great park and great people run it.
Tobermory is on overload. I don’t know how you will ever get back the way it used to be. I know it will never go back to what it was.
Sad state of affairs.
