Easter 2024 marked the 4th year that Easter hampers were provided by The Lion’s Head & District Food Bank. The number of hampers was an all time high of 43! This number is very similar to our Christmas numbers. Thank you to Peacock’s Foodland for managing our large Easter order!

There was a significant increase in Food Bank usage in March of this year due to increased travel for groceries, unemployment insurance not keeping up with living costs for those with seasonal employment, lack of affordable housing and increasing costs of groceries. We do not expect to see our numbers decrease for at least 3 months. Our shelves are getting quite bare and we have been shopping regularly to keep stock on hand.

Donation bins have been placed at Peninsula Pet Supply in Ferndale and the Royal Bank in Lion’s Head. Thank you to these two companies for allowing us to place our bins there.

We have set April as “TP month” … Toilet paper is an essential item in homes and something our clients are always requesting. All donations will be gratefully accepted! Storage won’t be an issue as it will go out as fast as it comes in :).
