I have noticed over this past winter a concerning absence of birds that are regular visitors to our feeders.
We had a large number of Blue Jays every winter – this winter not one.
Only occasionally one pair of Downy Woodpeckers and one pair of Hairy Woodpeckers – used to have three pairs.
Only one pair of Cardinals occasionally – used to have three pairs.
We had flying squirrels each winter but not this year.
What is happening with our birds?Have read that Bird Flu has been identified in Ontario. Could this be happening to our birds in NBP? This is very scary to me.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
