The Power Workers’ Union (PWU) announced in April that it would be donating a total of $52,000.00 to local Food Banks, Women’s Shelters and Mental Health Initiatives in the Grey/Bruce/Huron area.

The funds were recently approved through the PWU Bruce Site Equity Committee on behalf of the PWU Bruce Power members as part of their annual disbursement into the local communities. To date, the PWU Bruce Site Equity has donated more than $3,000,000.00 into the local communities. The PWU Bruce Site Equity Committee makes these disbursements on behalf of all 2,600 PWU members who work for Bruce Power.

The Lion’s Head & District Food Bank and the Tobermory Food Bank have each received a donation of $2,000.00. This donation will assist our food banks to continue to provide food for those in need of some assistance.

Joyful About Jam

The Lion’s Head & District Food Bank requested donations of Jam during the month of April. We are happy to report that 25 jars of jam were donated!

May is the month for Peanut Butter. Any size jar would be appreciated. They can be placed in the Food Bank bin at Hellyer’s Foodland in Lion’s Head.

Let’s see if we can receive more than 25 jars.

Masks for Food Bank

Bruce Power has come through for food banks once again. The Lion’s Head & District Food Bank recently received a donation of 2,000 face masks.

A big shout out to Bruce Power for providing the masks and Paul Wagenaar from United Way for delivering them!
